Accelerating circular fashion
Currently, only 1% of textile waste is recycled into new clothes. The idea of an electron beam separating textiles, thus helping to recycle and contribute to circular fashion, was the subject of the winning project at the hackathon challenge-based event held by the EU-funded and CERN-coordinated I.FAST project.
The event, part of a series organised every summer, explored how accelerator technologies can address environmental issues. It is open to students coming from all over Europe and from many different backgrounds: physics, engineering, business, communication, environmental sciences, etc.
